Tadoba Andhari Tiger Reserve, located in Chandrapur district, Maharashtra, is the state’s oldest and largest national park, spanning 1,727 sq. km. It includes Tadoba National Park (established in 1955) and Andhari Wildlife Sanctuary (merged in 1995). Known as the “Land of Tigers,” it’s famous for its thriving Royal Bengal Tiger population, diverse wildlife, and scenic landscapes featuring Tadoba Lake, Kolsa Lake, and the Andhari river. |
Pench Tiger Reserve or Pench National Park is located in Madhya Pradesh and Maharashtra in India. It is mostly in the Madhya Pradesh districts of Seoni and Chhindwara along the Pench river. The park covers 1,920 sq. km with Nagpur in Maharashtra being the nearest big city at around 90 km.
October to June. March to June is hot but perfect for tiger sighting at waterholes. October to February is cool, perfect for birding and weather. The park remains closed for core zone safaris during July to September due to monsoon.
The Madhai Gate is the most popular entry point to Satpura National Park, known for its tiger density, diverse landscapes and rich wildlife. The park's varied topography, including plains, valleys, meadows, water bodies, and hilly terrains, supports a wide range of flora and fauna.
The park is home to a variety of wildlife, including tigers, leopards, wild dogs, sloth bear and numerous species of birds.
India's oldest national park, started in 1936 as Hailey National Park. One of the top spots for viewing Royal Bengal tigers (260+ in the park) and with elephants, leopards, and 580+ bird species. Also renowned for Project Tiger (started in 1973) and its breathtaking Shivalik Himalayan foothills, great for safaris.
